printable version

Get a clean start with Shell Car Wash at our first site in Ghubrah Service Station.

You have invested a lot in your car, so you want to keep it looking as good as they day you first bought it... So give it the care and attention it deserves at Shell Car Wash.

Shell Rainbow Car Wash

Shell Car Wash is a modern car wash facility that cares for motorists' cars just like they would care for one of the family. Well-trained attendants use the latest equipment to keep a car looking its very best - clean and shiny.

To ensure that cars are protected as they are cleaned, Shell Car Wash only uses specialised fabric strips (Foam brite) that clean a car thoroughly, but gently. There are no harsh brushes that might scratch or abrase. A unique pre-wash soaking ensures that even hard-to-clean areas are reached.

Customers can relax in a comfortable waiting area while they wait, and enjoy refreshments or watch television. Children can play in a special kids corner. The waiting area is developed to include other services such as better car care products, window tinting and minor electrical work

If customers prefer, they can watch their car as it goes through the automatic wash. Clear glass walls let them see the cleaning process from the comfort of the waiting area. Brightly-lit signs in the wash tunnel mark each stage of the wash process and explain exactly what is being carried out.

There are four programmes to choose from:

1. Exterior Wash

2. Standard Wash

3. Deluxe Wash

4. Premium Wash

Apart from the usual washing and drying, your package can include a combination of...

Water Rinse - this is applied before your car is washed, to cool the car and protect the car's paint work.

Shampoo - occurring during the first cycle of the brush, the shampoo acts as a strong detergent that penetrates and removes even the most stubborn dirt.

Polish - this helps prevent dirt from clinging to your car's surface, revitalising your car's paint work.

Rust Inhibitor - This is applied to the bottom of the car to wash and protect under the chasis and the bottom part of the car from rust.

Wax - sprayed on before drying the car, Cold Wax helps to hasten the drying process as the wax makes water flow off the car naturally.

Elephant blowers - Three blowers blow air from three sides to dry the car

Shammy Shine - Shammys rotate on the car to shine and remove the last drop of water on the car, so that the car exits the car wash tunnel dry and ready to go except if the customer wishes to experience other services at the site - Not on oversized vehicles.

Other Services:

Vacuum: Well-trained cleaners remove every drop of water on the car if there is any left, and vacuum the interior of the car and remove all the dust.

Dashboard Polish: The cleaners make the interior of the car shine as if brand new.

Fragrance: There are many fragrances to choose from that give the freshness and excitement to the car.

Tyre Polish: Special polish is applied to the tyres to make them shine

Invisible Glass: This applies a special chemical to the glass that cleans it to perfection.

How To Maintain Your Car's Shine

Mustang Car

Preventing dirt and film from building up is one of the secrets to having a great looking car. To maintain your car's condition, wash your car weekly or fortnightly, depending on road and weather conditions. Experts recommend you polish or wax your car two or three times per year.

    • Remember new cars or new paint jobs should not be polished for around two months after painting, to allow the finish to harden.
    • Cutting compounds should be used only rarely. Cutting does precisely what it says - cuts a film of paint off the body. Too much cutting can take you down to the primer.

Scratches and Scrapes

Small scratches that don't penetrate the primer can be made virtually invisible with a soft cloth and a little cutting compound. For scratches that bare the metal, clean the area of old polish using a silicone solvent then apply a primer to the metal or use ordinary nail varnish.

Dents and Creases

If the damage is minor, press or knock (with a soft mallet) the panel back to its approximate shape. Use an electric sanding disc to sand the damaged zone. Then paint with an anti-rust zinc primer.

Now fill the zone with any one of the two-part commercial fillers available (resin plus hardener). On hardening, sand it back to the required shape using wet and dry paper to attain a smooth finish. Then prime and paint.

    • Inspect all ledges and corners under your car
    • Look for any rust spots or blisters
    • Keep the mudguards, doorsills and floor area free of mud by washing thoroughly
    • Ensure the drain plugs at the bottom of all doors are clear, especially station wagon tailgates
    • Where necessary, wire-brush rusted areas, paint with rust killer or converter, and then apply primer and under-body sealer
    • Never wash your car with salty water

Healthy on the Inside

Cars look and feel better when they're clean on the inside. Not only does it make driving more pleasurable, it's also safer for you and your family.

    • Vacuum the inside of your car regularly to keep free from grit and dust
    • Clean upholstery with upholstery cleaner. Lubricate pedal linkages, handbrake, front seat reclining mechanism and guides
    • Check pedal rubbers for wear and replace where necessary
    • Inspect safety belt anchor points and belts for fraying - repair and renew as required
    • Lubricate door locks using powdered graphite, or a dry lube pencil
