Anuar, 41, is currently the Regional Wells Manager for Asia Pacific, based in Miri. He joined Shell as a graduate in 1990 working as a Wellsite Drilling Engineer in Miri. During his subsequent 19 years with Shell, Anuar has lived and worked in Miri, Kuala Lumpur and New Orleans. He brings to his new role extensive commercial and technical knowledge, as well as experience in leading small teams and large organisations through his assignments in drilling, completion, project accounting, commercial project evaluation, project acquisition and divestment and contracts and procurement positions within Shell in Malaysia and the United States. Anuar holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, United States and a MBA in International Management from the RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. Of Malaysian nationality from the state of Johor, Anuar is married to Mariani Ibrahim who also works at Shell as an economist. They have four children.
Anuar said that he was honoured to have been appointed to this position.
"I thank Dato Wee and my predecessors for their various contributions that have made this the great company that it is today, " he added. Shell will record 100 years of upstream operations in Malaysia in 2010. Dato Wee will leave the company to take up an external appointment.
