Labuan, 27April, 2009
Shell Malaysia recently donated five blood donor beds and eight units of digital blood pressure sets to the Labuan Nucleus Hospital to beef up its mobile blood donation facilities.
Capt Yap Tian Soong, Senior Labuan Representative handed over the equipment to Dr Joshua Beiting, Hospital Director at a brief ceremony held at the hospital.
"The contribution is part of our We Care We Share (WCWS) community outreach initiative to assist the community especially those in needs of blood transfusion," he said. He added that Shell’s WCWS Team was happy with the continuous cooperation and partnership with like-minded organizations in the community project organised.
Dr Joshua commended Shell for its caring gesture especially in organising blood donation drives which helped the hospital’s blood bank especially in times of emergency.
Shell organised at least two blood donation campaigns each year jointly with the Labuan Hospital and other partners. Some 280 pints was collected at last year’s campaign while a record 153 pints was achieved in February this year.
