Scuderia Spider 16M

The latest development of the 430 range, the Scuderia Spider 16M celebrates the most recent Formula One Constructors' title in 2008. It is the fastest drop-top Ferrari to navigate the Fiorano race track with technology direct from Formula One, such as F1-Trac and the superfast F1 6-speed gearbox. Take a look at its vital statistics below.

Overview

Ferrari prides itself on the ability to produce high-powered performance supercars that take your breath away at their sight and sound. The new 430 Scuderia Spider 16M was released in November 2008 in celebration of the 2008 Constructors' Championship victory. In a development of the signature 430 range, the newest V8 to come out of Maranello will yet again be fuelled and lubricated by Shell products.

The 430 Scuderia Spider 16M is crafted out of a carbon fibre outer shell that weighs 80kg less than the F430 Spider. 499 Scuderia Spider 16Ms have been produced for only the most discerning of clients, demanding both exclusivity and superb driving pleasure.

Performance

The 430 Scuderia Spider 16M's V8, 4.3 litre, mid-rear positioned engine produces a massive 510 horsepower at 8500 rpm. Much of the Formula One technology has been transferred to the new V8 supercar, including F1-Trac and the F1 superfast 6-speed gearbox. Being 80 kg lighter than its sister, the F430 Spider, the Scuderia Spider 16M is the fastest open-top Prancing Horse Gran Tursimo around the Fiorano circuit ever produced by the Italian marque.

Sprinting from 0-100 kph in 3.7s and with only 2.6 kg/hp, the Scuderia Spider 16M boasts a massive top speed of 315 kph. Echoing Ferrari's technology transfer from Formula One, Shell has worked with Ferrari in the continuing development of the Scuderia Spider 16M to make it one of the most exclusive and desirable drop-top V8s that has ever been produced.

Styling

The Scuderia Spider 16M represents the latest model artistically developed by Ferrari with Pininfarina and its lines are borne out of the need for both striking beauty and ultimate performance. With only 499 examples being created, the Scuderia Spider 16M is available to the most exclusive clients as part of the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalisation Programme.

Not only has Ferrari developed the technical performance of the car, but also its interior design, where the customised Ferrari iPod Touch 16 GB can be docked in the centre of the dashboard that augments the new generation audio system. Scuderia Ferrari's racing heritage is etched in every aspect of the car and Shell has been involved in the testing, transferring the huge database of knowledge from years of technical partnership with Ferrari.
