
Next stop: Melbourne, home of the Australian Grand Prix. It was a proper festival in honour of the Italian car manufacturer, starting in the morning with a parade in excess 85 cars from every era, driving through the main streets of the city.
Over 40,000 spectators then gathered in the Italian heart of the Australian metropolis, Lygon Street, to watch Ferrari test driver Marc Genè put the 248 F1 through its paces.
Gené, who came to Melbourne especially from Maranello to celebrate the 60th anniversary, ran the car through the area eight times, much to the delight of the fiercely loyal Italian locals.
From Melbourne, it was on to New Zealand for a whistle-stop two day visit to the largest city, Auckland. A passionate bunch of car enthusiasts, Kiwis came from all over to see the Ferrari’s tour the streets.
And finally, it was off to South Africa, the final stop in the third Relay leg. Starting in Johannesburg on 9 March, more than 400 customers and 40 cars crossed the African continent in two successful days, finishing in Cape Town in front of the historical castle, built to protect the cape from invaders.
The Ferrari 60 Relay Tour proceeded to the USA, with the first stage starting in Miami.
