The technical partnership with Ducati
Shell’s technical partnership with Ducati started in 1999 with the World Superbike Championship. The agreement was extended to include the MotoGP Championship in 2003.

Shell uses learnings from the race track to develop Shell V-Power road fuels and Shell Advance lubricants so that bikers all over the world can benefit from the cutting edge technology developed on the track.
The results have been constant throughout the relationship, with Shell’s continued goal to provide Ducati with 100% reliability, whilst optimising the power output from the bike. Michael Knaak, Project Leader, Shell Advance Technical Partnership with Ducati: “The work done by our engineers for the MotoGP race bikes alongside Ducati is the perfect opportunity to develop and test our lubricants in a variety of climates under many different conditions. The commercially available Shell Advance Ultra has almost the same performance package as the race oil, which means that the consumer has access to almost the same technology as the Ducati MotoGP team”.
At the core of this relationship lies a common passion for technology: Ducati develops its legendary race and road bikes, while Shell works to design high-performing fuel and lubricants for the benefit of bikers worldwide.
