Shell welcomes startup Erha development offshore Nigeria
01/05/2006
Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Ltd (SNEPCo) today welcomes the start-up of production from the Erha deepwater development located approximately 60 miles (97 kilometers) offshore Nigeria in 3,900 feet (1,200 meters) of water. SNEPCo has a non-operated interest of 43.73 percent in the Erha developments.
The first phase of the Erha and Erha North Development will create a nameplate capacity of about 210,000 barrels of oil a day, and about 300 million cubic feet of gas a day.
Commenting on the occasion, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) Managing Director Chima Ibeneche said: “Erha is another important contribution to new material oil production for Shell and underlines our long-term commitment to the country. The start up of the Erha development follows the one from Bonga, the first deepwater project in Nigeria. Erha and our Bonga project combined will reach a capacity level of over 430,000 barrels of oil a day offshore Nigeria. Nigeria's deepwater remains a frontier growth opportunity for Shell where we have made several recent discoveries offshore and where we maintain a strong acreage position.”
