Shell Pakistan contributes funds and goods worth Rs 30 million for immediate relief efforts for affectees of the earthquake

Karachi 12th Oct 2005: Shell Pakistan Ltd is extremely saddened by the loss of life and injury due to the earthquake earlier this week.
Shell Companies in Pakistan and Royal Dutch Shell will contribute Rs 30 million for the relief activities. Part of these funds have been contributed by Shell employees and business partners in Pakistan, as well as from Shell employees across the Shell Group. The funds will be channelled through Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP), SUNGI, Marie Adelaide Leprosy Center, and other reputable NGOs that are working deligently to provide assistance to the affected people especially in remote areas.
As part of relief efforts Shell has on an urgent basis mobilized medical teams of doctors and paramedics in ambulances equipped with medicines to provide medical assistance in the affected regions. Medical teams have been dispatched to several areas including Muzzafarabad, Manshera, Ghari Habibullah, Balakot, Rawalkot Bagh and the Galliat areas to attend to the injured and affected. In addition to the above efforts, a Shell medical team and ambulance has been stationed at the Ayub Medical College Abbotabad. Shell is also in the process of supplying a mobile X-Ray unit and a mobile operating theatre along with generation units. These will be positioned in the affected areas within the next two to three days. Shell is also supplying essential items such as blankets, medicines, and food to the affected areas.
Further we have on request of the Capital Development Authority also donated three hundred cylinders of Liquefied Petroleum Gas for the relief efforts. Shell will also supply MOGAS, Diesel, Kerosene in the affected areas. Shell is also assisting the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force to meet some its fuel requirement
Shell has a presence in Pakistan for over 100 years and has active social and community programmes in the areas of health, education, heritage and environment.
