Shell appoints Loh Wai Kiew to lead global Marine Products business

SINGAPORE, 15 AUGUST 2005 - Royal Dutch Shell plc today announced the appointment of Loh Wai Kiew to lead their global Shell Marine Products business with effect from 1 November 2005. After a period of familiarisation, she will assume her new role from Q1 2006, reporting to Charles Harrison, Executive Vice President, Business to Business who is based in London. She succeeds Michiel Kool who has joined the Exploration and Production Leadership Team as Corporate Support Director.

As part of her familiarisation, Wai Kiew will spend an initial period at Shell's office in London, following which she will return to Singapore where she will be based to lead the global business. Her areas of responsibility will include spearheading the growth, profitability, market leadership and safety and environment performance of the business.


Wai Kiew will join Shell from SembCorp Environmental Management Pte Ltd (SembEnviro), the largest waste management company in Singapore, where she is presently President and CEO. SembEnviro is a subsidiary of Singapore listed SembCorp Industries Ltd.
 

Charles Harrison said, "Wai Kiew is highly respected in the waste management industry and has a strong track record in a growing business in the Asia Pacific region. I am confident that she will be instrumental in growing our global marine business to better serve our customers in the coming years." He continued, "Given Shell's intention to grow its business in Asia, we are committed to expanding our Asian talent pool. The appointment of Wai Kiew is a major positive step towards this goal."


Wai Kiew obtained a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology in UK on an Imperial College Entrance Scholarship. She went on to obtain a masters of Science degree in Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston, USA.


Her successes include turning around the waste collection business and rapidly growing its various environmental engineering/services across 17 cities in five countries, including China and India. Wai Kiew is a strong advocate for staff training and passionate about issues that impact Singapore's community.
