Shell introduces new Marine Fuel Oil Grade in Melbourne and Geelong

Shell introduces new Marine Fuel Oil Grade in Melbourne and Geelong, press release, fuels, 2008

Shell Marine Products has announced it will introduce ISO-F-RMG 380cSt Fuel Oil (M380) to replace the existing 180cSt Fuel Oil in Melbourne and Geelong with effect from 1 August 2008.

Shell believe that the introduction of M380 into the Melbourne market will have significant benefits for most customers, in terms of cost, fuel efficiency and quality, and is consistent with a global movement toward usage of higher viscosity, higher density residual fuels for marine applications.

Said Dan Peterson, Oceania Business Manager, Shell Marine "In an environment of increasing fuel costs, we believe that customers will see significant value in the introduction of this grade into the Melbourne market."

M380 cSt fuel oil is a well proven marine bunker fuel, suitable for use in most vessels equipped with low-speed diesel engines and offers operators comparable performance to M180 at lower cost. For those vessels that are unable to use 380cSt fuel oil, Shell will continue to supply 180cSt fuel oil in other locations within Australia and New Zealand, specifically Sydney, Auckland and Tauranga.
