Muna Faraj, Manager of the Living Resources Department at the EPA, said, “The target group was high school students, and to achieve our goals we ran a series of lectures in association with the Ministry of Education in Kuwait’s six governorates. At these lectures, representatives from NGO’s (non-government organisations), such as the Coral Reef Team and the Bird Group from the Kuwait Environment Protection Society, were invited to address the students.” An event held at The New English School in Kuwait also brought together industry experts, including Sachin Kapila, Biodiversity Advisor for the Shell Group, who said, “Shell fully supports the EPA’s initiative to conserve and protect Kuwait’s rich and varied biodiversity.”

Kuwait Shell, and other like-minded organisations, have been supporting the EPA’s initiative on an ongoing basis, backing the distribution of posters and booklets on Kuwait’s biodiversity to reach over 2,000 students. “Kuwait Shell has been very supportive of the campaign,” said Muna. “It was a great encouragement to have had the backing of such a well-known company and we hope Shell’s support will inspire more companies to join us in similar campaigns in the future.”
