This card has been developed to help address all fuel – related fleet management issues. The Shell card uses an intelligent 1 Kb microchip (smart card) embedded on the plastic which will enable you to effect transactions at Shell service stations. The card is not limited to petroleum products only, since you may purchase other convenience goods on sale in our shops. The two types of cards are pre-paid and post-paid: Pre-paid: - The card is offered free of charge
- The card takes a maximum of 48 hours to be processed.
- Replenishment can be done at the Card Centre - Shell/BP House or at authorised Shell service stations country-wide.
- Cards can be paid for in cash, cheque or bankers cheque. NB. Cards paid for by cheque are processed after the cheque clears.
- The minimum amount of money per card is Kshs. 3,000 when applying for the card. It is not a deposit and can be used up to zero before replenishing. The maximum is up to the customer.
- All the settings to be customized on the card are the same as for the post paid card i.e. authorised zones, mileage, time zones, products restrictions etc.
Post-paid:
- The post-paid card offers you on average a 45-day interest free credit
- Minimum start up amount is Kshs. 250,000
- Security equivalent to the amount of credit as per the application is required
- One-time processing fee per card of Kshs. 1,000,
- A copy of your certificate of incorporation, VAT certificate and a copy of the PIN certificate
(** The post-paid card offers you on average a 45-day interest free credit. Payment is required only once a month, 15days from the date of the statement.) The Fuel card benefits:
- Smart Technology - This enables specific customisation of each individual card to suit the needs of a customer.
- Security - Each BP & Shell card goes with a confidential personal Identification Number (PIN) that will be used in place of a signature to validate all transactions made on your card. The code can be changed on request at no extra cost.
- Driver Codes - You can have one card with the name of your Company on it, that can be used to fuel all your cars. Each driver can be assigned his own driver code. This is useful when you want to maintain an audit trail.
- Product Restriction - You may choose the appropriate combinations suitable to you out of a list of fifteen options. Any attempts to use the card outside a designed product category will result to a decline. The following products combinations are available: All products, Unleaded, Premium, Regular, Diesel, Premium/Lubes/Puncture, Regular/Lubes/Puncture, Premium/Lubes/Service, Regular/Lubes/Service and Diesel/Lubes/Services.
- Geographical Zones - You may restrict your card to either of the following zones: Nairobi, Greater Nairobi, Rift Valley, Western, Mt. Kenya or Coast. You may however opt to have an overriding right activated in your card account in case you need to make a transaction anywhere out of your designed zone. The overriding right may not be extended to drivers to ensure control.
- Day & Time Restriction - You may restrict your card usage to any of the following time restrictions: Daytime (0600-1800hr)/All day, 24hrs/ Weekends, Daytime (0600-1800).- You have an option to activate the override rights on this feature as well.
- Management Information Systems - You may request for detailed reports/statement in the following order: Description by card number; General Summary by product; Detailed transaction statement
- Pre-Authorised (offline) Transactions - The Shell card offers a pre-authorised environment thus easing delays caused by telecommunication congestion and breakdowns. Service is therefore guaranteed at all stations no matter the location.
