Fuel combustion in a car engine works best when a precise mix of oxygen and fuel occurs. With some conventional fuels, deposits may build up in the valves that let fuel into the engine.
This can slow fuel entering the engine, affecting the balance of fuel and air and making the engine less efficient. To overcome this Shell has developed fuel economy formula fuels that help prevent the build-up of such deposits.

Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel are our most advanced economy formula fuels. They are designed to save customers fuel with every fill-up.
These fuels contain Shell’s new and most advanced additives which are designed to reduce friction to help save energy. They clean the valves that let in fuel and lubricate parts of the engine where standard engine oils are less effective. This includes, for example, the ring on the upper piston that helps to drive the engine.
Shell FuelSave is currently available in 10 countries.
Our scientists have decades of experience in researching the effects of fuel on an engine. They used their expertise to help develop the Shell FuelSave formula.
We have also designed an on-line training module to help customers learn how to save even more fuel by changing their driving style.
