Internship Policy

Internships are one of the three routes that Shell offers to graduates wishing to join  and as such are in the final stage in the selection process.

 

Introduction

As part of Shell’s Global Recruitment tools, Shell has introduced a 100% Assessed internships* for studying Graduates. Internships are one of the three routes that Shell offers to graduates wishing to join  and as such are in the final stage in the selection process.

 

A students’ performance is evaluated throughout the internship using the standard Shell graduate selection criteria.

 

The purpose of the 100% Assessed Internship is to deliver high potential full time graduate recruits into the Shell Group, by means of assessment based on past performance, whilst optimally utilising  resource by using one standard across the Enterprise.

Our Policy

Definition – Intern

An Intern is a student pursuing college studies who is inducted into Shell system for a defined period on project basis.  Internship also helps Shell in evaluating the suitability of the candidate as graduate hire for the subsequent year.

 

Policy Highlights :

  • It works on the simple basis that throughout a candidate's internship assignment, a project supervisor and mentor will develop, coach and make an assessment based on the candidate’s performance. 
  • At the end of the internship, the evaluation made and the overall score given will determine whether or not the candidate is offered a full time employment position within Shell.
  • Interested candidates should only apply through the www.shell.com/careers website and pass the assessment, where after they are ready to be placed according to their qualifications, backgrounds and project match.
  • Interns shall receive a monthly stipend equivalent to the x% of relevant job’s Salary Group. 
  • In addition, the interns will be supported with policy applicable from time to time
  • Internship can be for any duration between 2 months to a year, depending upon the needs of the function/ business and internship requirement.
  • In case of any violation of the policy by the intern, the summer internship will be withdrawn with immediate effect and the respective Institute will be informed appropriately.
  • Repeat offence by the intern from same institute will lead to Institute getting blacklisted by the Company.
  • The above guidelines are subject to review from time to time. Shell’s Management reserves the right to revise the internship policy and guidelines from time to time.
  • At the end of the Internship period, the Intern will present the project to the Project Guide, line Manager and HR.
  • Any candidate, whose overall internship score does not meet the minimum requirements set by Recruitment, will be regretted.
