In the area of income generation, since 2003 Shell has supported the workshop for the Intellectually Challenged persons in cooperation with Yayasan Asih Budi. The workshop trains them sewing and printing skill. After two years, they could establish a Koperasi Usaha Bersama (KUB) for marketing and selling their products. Besides instilling confidence within the persons, the program also allows them to gain skills that may help them generate income. In 2000 Shell supported Indonesian Deaf Association (Gerkatin) with facilities and skills (sewing, hairdressing, silent language and silk-screening). Upon completion many are able to earn a living with the skill learned.
