LiveWIRE Indonesia has contributed to the success of an international youth enterprise programme that has provided over 1.3 million young people globally with information, advice and support to develop enterprising ideas and start their own businesses. LiveWIRE Indonesia is part of the Shell LiveWIRE International programme which has LiveWIRE schemes operating in a total of 23 countries throughout the world. The Shell LiveWIRE International programme has helped over 2,800 new businesses to start up with the creation of over 8,900 jobs. LiveWIRE is one of Shell’s Social Investment Programmes. It promotes enterprise and provides practical advice, training and ongoing support services to young people who want to develop enterprising ideas and start their own businesses. Working through local enterprise development organisations and through partnerships with schools, universities, governments, other corporations, and community programs, Shell LiveWIRE delivers practical support to young entrepreneurs to develop the skills needed to plan, launch, and manage new business enterprises. Apart from BSA, Shell LiveWIRE Indonesia organises a series of activities targeted for young Indonesian entrepreneurs as follows: - Bright Ideas workshop. From 2003 till March 2008, Shell LiveWIRE has conducted workshops in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogya, Surabaya, Depok Semarang and Pontianak on various topics such as:
1. Unlock your Potential 2. How to develop Bright Ideas 3. Market Research for the First Time and 4. Sales, Marketing & Financing Guidelines.
- Shell LiveWIRE is planning to conduct another 18 Bright Ideas workshops in 19 locations across Indonesia until 2009, two workshops for young people who wish to become Shell Retailers and four workshops in various universities.
- Enquiry Service Shell LiveWIRE provides young entrepreneurs an online discussion forum by developing a mailing list (shell_livewire@yahoogroups.com) and website (www.livewire-indonesia.org)
LiveWIRE Indonesia is one of over 20 LiveWIRE programmes supported by Shell around the world to promote the spirit of enterprise in young people. The original LiveWIRE programme was launched in 1982 in the United Kingdom and local variations of the programme are developed in the each country to deliver the most appropriate support to young people as they develop the skills needed to plan, launch and manage new business enterprises. LiveWIRE schemes are financed on a country by country basis by the local Shell company and operate in partnership with local and national Government to facilitate delivery of economic and social inclusion programmes.
