Shell Companies in Indonesia crosses an important milestone as it officially opens Jakarta’s first internationally-branded fuel retail outlet in over 40 years at Jl. S. Parman, West Jakarta. This follows the recent station opening in Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang last November. The new outlet will enable motorists in the Jakarta area to enjoy high-quality fuel products and services from Shell. At this new site in S. Parman, Shell offers the much awaited high-quality Shell Diesel, in addition to Shell Super and Shell Super Extra gasoline with octane levels of 92 and 95 respectively. Shell Diesel is recommended for all types of diesel vehicles and keeps the engine clean and free from deposits, while Shell Super Extra is specially formulated to provide more power for the engine, while keeping it clean. The Shell retail outlet has modern, fast flowing pumps which provide a digitally printed receipt to assure customers they receive the correct quantity, and a convenience store. Shell plans to later offer subsidised fuels in its retail stations to complete the range of products to meet customer needs. Commenting at the opening of the Shell station, Chairman of the Investment Coordinating Board, M. Lutfi said, “Shell’s strategic move to significantly invest in Indonesia proves that Indonesia is a conducive country for investment. I look forward to the creation of a level playing field for all licenced players that will bring forth further investments and create healthy competition in the market. We are pleased to have Shell on board, and with their reputation and expertise we are confident that they will provide new standards in fuel retail services.” Ahmad Ridha, the Dealer who will operate the outlet with his crew of 100 fully trained men and women, says: “I am keen to start my new role as an entrepreneur and proud for the opportunity Shell has given me to run their first fuels retail outlet in Jakarta. Customers will feel the difference I believe.” The next Shell fuels retail outlet poised to open also in March 2006 is located at Jl. Warung Buncit Raya, South Jakarta.
