23/03/2008
A biological gas desulphurisation technology, which integrates gas purification with sulphur recovery in a single process unit, has earned an award at the Institution of Chemical Engineers’ annual celebration of outstanding contributions to safety, the environment and sustainable development.
The Shell-Paques process, jointly developed by Shell Global Solutions International BV and Paques BV, won the Sellafield Award for Engineering Excellence.
Rene Bakker, Manager, Oil and Gas Business, Paques BV, says, “Customers choose Shell-Paques technology for its ‘triple-e’ benefits – economics, ease of operations and environmental friendliness. This award is testament to the excellent relationship between Shell Global Solutions and Paques, and our future journey will include innovation focused on process efficiency improvements.”
Frans Schrauwen, Business Team Manager Gas to Liquids Conversion, Shell Global Solutions International BV, was shortlisted for the individual NES Novel Engineering Solutions Award for his work in developing the high-dispersion tray – now widely used in the production of ultra-low-sulphur diesel.
