Expansion project for Marathon Oil
Marathon Oil Corporation’s refinery in Garyville, Louisiana, USA, has embarked on a $3.2-billion expansion. The project will increase the refinery’s capacity by 180,000 barrels a day to 425,000 barrels a day.

Pertamina aims for world-class energy performance
The Indonesian refining market is opening up and competitive pressure is increasing. Consequently, the country’s national oil company, Pertamina, has contracted Shell Global Solutions International BV to carry out a study of organisational effectiveness in energy management at its Balongan oil refinery in Indramayu, West Java. With a capacity of 125,000 barrels a day, it is one of the largest of the seven oil refineries owned by Pertamina and supplies fuel to Jakarta and West Java.
