Gas Industry Resources

Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (OFGEM)    The gas and electricity industry regulator has a site full of information for both the business and domestic energy user.   
 
National Grid  The National Grid website explains how gas is distributed throughout the UK and includes useful information on interruptions.   

 

Oil and Gas Directorate of the Department of Trade and Industry(DTI)  This website is a useful source of information on government activities and developments in the UK gas industry.   


Society of British Gas Industries  For onshore information you can contact this trade association covering the whole of the onshore gas industry.

BRE  BRE is part of the Building Research Establishment. It is an independent centre for information on energy efficiency in buildings and manages the Department for the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) Energy Efficiency Best Practice programme. You will find information on degree days as well as energy efficiency if you select BRE from the home page of the website.   
 
Future Energy Solutions  Also part of the DETR, Future Energy Solutions is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in energy efficiency and sustainable energy technologies.

Energy Efficiency for Businesses

The Carbon Trust is a government trust providing a range of programmes and initiatives to help businesses exploit the commercial opportunities available to them in moving towards a low carbon economy. These include Action Energy and the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme.

                                    

Energy Saving Trust UK organisation working towards the efficient and sustainable use of energy by households and smaller organisations. The EST runs a network of Energy Efficiency Advice Centres providing free advice to help energy users realise the cost and environmental benefits of adopting energy saving measures.

 

The Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA) The CHPA works to promote the wider use of combined heat and powerand community heating in the UK. 

   

Energy Systems Trade Association (ESTA) UK energy management trade association focusing on demand side energy efficiency of buildings, building services and process services in the non-domestic sector. It represents over 100 suppliers of products and services.

Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR)    
This site provides information on climate change, what causes it, how the world and the UK could be affected, what is being done to tackle the effects of climate change, and how industry, businesses, and individuals can do their bit to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.


The DETR's CHP Quality Assurance programme (CHPQA)   
Provides information on how CHP schemes may be CCL exempt.
