Venezuela

Shell began working in Venezuela in the early twentieth century and drilled the country’s first commercial oil well in 1914. Since 1993 we have been operating the Urdaneta West Field with Petroleos de Venezuela S.A. (PDVSA). In 2006 this led to the creation of "Petroregional del Lago, S.A.” (40% owned by Shell, 60% by PDVSA). Shell opened one of the most modern lubricants plants in Latin America in Valencia, Carabobo state in 1997.
