  Changes in Maranello

Following on from the final Grand Prix of 2006 and Michael Schumacher’s departure from Formula One, Scuderia Ferrari has announced significant changes to their managerial line-up.

Jean Todt - now appointed Chief Executive Officer of Ferrari S.p.A – will, for the time being assume the role of Managing Director of the Gestione Sportiva. Within this new structure under Todt, Stefano Domencali will act as Sporting Director with Mario Almondo as Technical Director.

These technical responsibilities will in turn be managed by Aldo Costa, who heads up the chassis department while Frenchman Gilles Simon will be responsible for the engine division. Both will be reporting directly to Almondo.

This recent reshuffle back at base camp in Maranello also sees the departure of Ross Brawn and Paolo Martinelli, both of whom have played a spectacular part in the team’s history. Brawn has decided to turn his attention to his personal life while Martinelli has taken on an important role within the FIAT group.

In their recent press communication, Ferrari thanked Brawn and Martinelli for their ‘immense contribution in the drafting of an extraordinary chapter in the history of the Scuderia and motor sport, which has produced a tally of eleven world titles (six Constructors’ and five Drivers’ all of these with Michael Schumacher) and around ninety wins in Formula One Grands Prix…best wishes for a satisfying future’.
