2007 Formula One preview

Printable Version

For some, December 2006 was holiday season, but with less than three months before the start of the 2007 Formula One season, it was back to the track for Ferrari as the wheels began turning again at Jerez de la Frontera circuit in southern Spain.

A testing time for Shell and Ferrari

Felipe Massa

Felipe Massa and Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer embarked on an intensive technical programme, primarily looking at endurance testing, component experimentation and general set-up.

In the meantime, Shell engineers can be found hard at work back at the Ferrari Factory in Maranello and in Shell facilities across the UK and Germany. The team is building on the success of the Shell V-Power blend that helped turnaround the fortunes of the Ferrari team mid-season and saw Michael Schumacher and Ferrari fight for both World Championship titles right down to the last race in Brazil. With the introduction of the ‘engine freeze’ regulation and a return to a single tyre supplier, Shell’s contribution to the reliability and performance of the Ferrari engine will be a key differentiating factor in the Scuderia’s chance of World Championship title success in 2007 and beyond.

While much is yet unknown about the upcoming season, one thing is clear – it will hail the beginning of a new era of change for Shell and Ferrari. With numerous personnel changes at Ferrari - Michael Schumacher’s departure and Kimi Räikkönen’s imminent arrival - plus a host of new regulations to contend with, the new Shell V-Power fuelled Ferrari will certainly be thrilling to watch as it debuts at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia on 18 March 2007.

Make sure you check back with Shell for a full season preview early in the New Year.
