Hello everyone,
Lisa here. (Lisa Lilley, Shell Technology Manager for Ferrari). We are in Istanbul for the first anti-clockwise race of the season: the Turkish Grand Prix. The race is taking place three months earlier than usual so temperatures are much cooler than what we’re used to here. The week started with a few downpours but for the moment the rain is staying away. Istanbul Park seems to be a very popular track amongst the drivers and everyone is looking forward to seeing how the cars perform on the famous Turn Eight.
Besides getting everything ready for the race, we have also been preparing for the Shell Press Conference which took place this morning (Thursday). This was a great opportunity for us to answer journalists’ questions about the Shell technical partnership with Ferrari and show how we transfer the knowledge from the race track to our road products such as Shell V-Power fuel and Shell Helix lubricant. The press conference actually took place in a Shell petrol station just next to the track. I was joined by the Ferrari drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa who took media questions – this was their first stop before heading to the race track for the weekend activities.

Now the press conference is over it is back to business at the track. Our Shell track lab arrived on Monday at the Istanbul Park circuit. It was transported by the Ferrari trucks which after leaving Maranello last week boarded a ferry in Trieste, Italy for a three day trip before disembarking at Istanbul Port.
When we get back to Chester we will be using the information gathered from this race weekend to further develop the Shell products, both for the race cars and for the road!
Until next time,
Lisa
