Millennium Development Goals
Goal 5: Improve maternal health
Women are exposed to a disproportionately higher share of indoor air pollution through burning traditional biomass fuels for cooking. A more accessible source of fuel can reduce these health risks and allow more time for childcare or work outside the home. In addition, modern energy helps improve health for women by powering water pumps and providing essential energy to run medical centres and hospitals.
