Helping customers to use less energy

Many of our customers are looking for ways to use energy more efficiently. We are working with them to develop products and services that can help.

Helping our customers use less energy

We are starting to offer more efficient fuels and lubricants, as well as programmes that help drivers to use less energy and emit fewer CO2 emissions.

Everyday drivers
Shell FuelSave Regular Unleaded, for example, is our most advanced fuel economy formula fuel and is designed to save customers fuel with every fill-up. Shell FuelSave is available in 15 countries across the world.

Our driver training programmes include face-to-face sessions, driving simulators and online tutorials. They have been used by over 200,000 drivers since 1999.

Trucking
Shell FuelSave Partner is a new fuel management system that combines monitoring fuel consumption with information on vehicle and driver performance. Fuel accounts for up to 30% of operating costs in the commercial road transport sector. The system was launched in 2010 to help truck owners cut costs by using less fuel, which reduces their CO2 emissions.

Shipping
We have developed a new marine lubricant, called Alexia S4, designed to help improve fuel efficiency. This allows ships to travel slower for longer periods, reducing the wear this usually places on their engines.
