The 25th edition of Shell Eco-marathon Europe will be held from Thursday 7 to Saturday 9 May at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz in Germany. The official rules and regulations for the 2009 edition of the Shell Eco-marathon are already available online here for you to download and study in detail. Your application to take part in the 2009 edition of the Shell Eco-marathon Europe will be in three steps:
- Complete and submit the Application Form
a. Download the official Application Form (file word 65KB) b. Complete all parts IN ENGLISH ONLY c. Have the completed form SIGNED by your School, Institute or Educational Director d. Get the signed form STAMPED with your institution’s official stamp. e. Return to Shell on or before Friday 31 October 2008 at the following address:

Please note: The postmark will provide proof of date of postage. Any applications posted after the deadline date will not be accepted. Incomplete applications, applications that are not completed in English, or applications without an institution signature and/or stamp will not be accepted.
- Pre-Selection Process
The Shell Eco-marathon Selection Committee will then decide which 200 teams will be invited to participate in the Shell Eco-marathon 2009. By limiting the number of participants to 200 we will be able to provide the safest working and living conditions both on and off the circuit. Ensuring the safety of all participants is our top priority.
Pre-selection will ensure greatest diversity as possible in terms of competing countries, educational institutions, fuel categories and engine types. All decisions taken by the Selection Committee are final and no discussions will be entered into.
Successful teams will be notified of their pre-selection by Friday 21 November 2008.
- Completing the Entry Pack
Pre-selected teams will be asked to complete and return the Entry Pack on or before Friday 19 December 2008. We will provide pre-selected teams further details on how to complete the Entry Pack to in due course.
As in the case of the Application Form, only those Entry Packs that are fully and correctly completed in ENGLISH will be accepted. Any pre-selected team that submits an incomplete or incorrectly completed Entry Pack will be automatically disqualified at this point.
The teams that make it through to the final selection will receive confirmation of their participation in early 2009 (exact date to be determined).
