Better Environment Scheme

printable version

The Shell Better Environment Scheme (BES) encourages school children to design practical projects to create a more environment-friendly community and then provides funds for the best ideas, making them come true.

Group of students

The scheme was successfully launched in 1996 and now runs in primary and middle schools in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing, and Huizhou.

Since 1996, more than 350,000 students have submitted some 30,000 different projects under the scheme.

Government Education Commissions in Shanghai, Huizhou, and Guangzhou organize the event with Shell support and sponsorship. In Beijing, support comes from the Friends of Nature, in Tianjin from Friends of Green and in Nanjing we partner with Jiangsu Friends of Green.

We now publish a quarterly newsletter and have our own website for you to find out further information. See our website: www.better-environment.net
