Working in partnership with Junior Achievement, about 41 Shell staff have taught Renewable Energy course and English at the New Century School for Migrant Workers' Children and other schools in Beijing. This volunteer teaching programme started in 2003 |

Tree planting |
|
More than 140 Shell staff and their families planted 1,000 trees outside Bang Shui Yu village, Yanqing County in April 2004. 40 Staff volunteers also tended trees as follow up. |

Sponsoring poor students |
|
Shell and staff are sponsoring the living expenses of 272 poor university students in Xinjiang, Ningxia and Gansu Provinces, who could not otherwise afford to continue their education even though their tuition fees have been waived. Our sponsorship is part of the nationwide New Great Wall Project run by China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation. |

Tsunami contribution |
|
Shell staff have raised about RMB 107,000 for areas and people affected by Tsunami in 2004. Shell China has contributed another RMB 250,000 towards the appeal. All proceeds go to the China Red Cross. |
