Bearing and Circulating Oils

printable version

Shell Morlina Range is a range of bearing and circulating oils designed to meet the specific needs of the steel industry and machine tool manufacturers. Formulated for long life and resistance to deposits, Morlina oils provide excellent foam control, wear protection, thermal and oxidation stability and also, demonstrate extreme pressure performance.

Shell Morlina Oils  are zinc-free, mild anti-wear circulating and general purpose bearings oils.  The lower viscosities Morlina Oils can also be used as hydraulic oils in non-critical applications where anti-wear protection is not important. They have excellent thermal stability and suitable for hydraulic pumps containing certain steel-on-bronze lubrication surfaces including silver plated contacts.

Bearing oil requirements are defined mainly by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), with the component industry playing a minor role. The relevant viscosity grades of Shell Morlina Oils have now been approved by leading OEMs such as Morgan (USA), Danieli (Italy) and SMS Demag (Germany).

Shell Morlina Oils are premium quality mineral oils blended with carefully selected additives for use in circulation systems and certain other industrial applications which do not require oils with EP (extreme pressure) properties.

Shell Morlina Oils are available in a number of ISO viscosity grades ranging from low viscosity spindle oils (ISO VG 5 & 10), to "Morgoil" type products (ISO VG 100 and above). Anti-corrosion additives protect all types of metal surfaces and anti-oxidant additives ensure good oil service life and a wide operating temperature range. The anti-foam and inherent air release properties reduce the risk of pump cavitation.
