Bram joined Shell in 1980 as a technologist in Shell Pernis, The Netherlands, after completing his studies in Chemical Engineering in the Technical University Delft. In 1983, he moved to Shell Moerdijk where he stayed until 1988, holding jobs in technology and operations.
That year, he moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, where he took up the position of assistant chemicals manager. He returned to Shell Moerdijk in 1992 as the unit manager for the styrene monomer/propylene oxide plant and, in 1996, became the manager for the Moerdijk technology and HSE department. Bram moved to Singapore in 1999 as process co-ordinator for the Seraya expansion project, a position he held until his appointment as Managing Director of Shell Chemicals Seraya on December 1, 2002.
On April 15, 2006 Bram returned to Shell Moerdijk as General Manager and Director of Shell Nederland Chemie.
Bram is married with two sons and a daughter.
