Mark Byrd took up his appointment as General Manager of Shell Chemical LP's Deer Park, Texas facility on 1 October 2010. He was previously Vice President HSSE/SD, Global Manufacturing.
After joining Shell Pipeline Corporation as an engineer in 1983, Mark held a succession of increasingly responsible technical, management and strategy positions within Shell Pipeline, Motiva and Shell Oil Products. Mark joined Manufacturing in 2003 as an Assistant Plant Manager/Manager Sustainable Development at the Motiva Delaware City Refinery. Mark became General Manager at the Mobile Chemical Plant in 2004 before assuming the HSSE Vice President role in 2007.
