Kate Johnson was appointed General Manager, Base Chemicals Europe in January 2010. In this role, Kate manages a team in Europe who market the 'building blocks' of the chemical industry to large multinationals as well as to internal customers in Shell Chemicals. On June 1, 2011 Kate was also appointed General Manager Shell Chemicals Europe BV.
Previous to her current roles, Kate worked in a variety of positions across Shell. Within Chemicals, she has worked in Strategy, HODer and SMPO and (outside of Chemicals) in Trading, Procurement and Corporate Finance. These jobs provided her with the experience of working in a diverse range of cultures - professionally as well as geographically.
Kate joined Shell in 1986 with a degree in Chemistry and completed a further Masters degree in Business at Manchester Business School. She is married to a Dutchman and is trying to learn Dutch. Otherwise she enjoys gardening, running, cycling and golf.
