Joke Driessen was appointed General Manager for the Moerdijk site and Director of Shell Nederland Chemie in November 2009.
She joined Shell in 1985 with a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from Delft University in The Netherlands. After a number of assignments in R&D she moved into process engineering. After a one-year assignment in a manufacturing plant in Germany she moved to Singapore in 1996 to take part in the commissioning and start-up of the Seraya-1 complex. Once the start-up was complete, Joke became unit manager for the Propylene Oxide and Derivatives plants.
Joke left Singapore in 2000 to take up an assignment as unit manager for the SHOP-plant in Stanlow. From there she moved back into R&D as the Global Technology Manager for the Styrene Monomer/Propylene Oxide business. In 2007 she moved into Shell Nederland Chemie as Technology Manager for the chemicals plants in Pernis and Moerdijk.
