With corporate headquarters in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, Interstate operates 16 terminals and bulk storage facilities throughout the north eastern, mid western, and western United States, serving customers across 25 states.
The company purchases a range of bulk chemicals from Shell Chemical LP including both hydrocarbon and chemical solvents, glycol ethers and mono-propylene glycol. Patty Palumbo, one of the company’s bulk chemical buyers, uses Customer Lounge to place orders for a number of Interstate sites, and also to retrieve documents such as certificates of analysis and bills of lading.
She says that using the Customer Lounge has improved both her efficiency and self-sufficiency. “What I like about Customer Lounge is its user-friendliness and the fact that it allows me to do everything I need to do as a buyer, when I want to do it.”
“Everything is right there at my fingertips. I don’t need to pick up the phone and talk to anybody or wait for someone to call me back. I can place and manage orders, or download the information or documents I need, at a time that suits me.
“For day to day order placement and management it’s all in there, but if I need to pull up a Material Safety Data Sheet I can.”
Palumbo says that Customer Lounge’s Reorder feature is particularly useful. “I’m placing a lot of similar or repeat orders every month so it’s very handy to be able to pull up a previous order and just change the purchase order number – it really cuts down on my data entry.
“I have to use a number of suppliers’ websites but the Customer Lounge is the most user-friendly,” she says. “Once you’ve tried it I don’t know why you wouldn’t use it because it makes my job as a buyer a lot easier and more productive.”
