How did Shell capture your interest? And why did you choose Shell?
Shell is an international multicultural company with a lot of opportunities for graduates like me.
I chose Shell because I believe they will allow me to begin my career in an international environment with a lot of challenges and scope for professional development.
Has your view of Shell pre-employment and post employment changed. If so, in what way?
I am very satisfied because it's exactly what I wanted. The training is superb, and the options for new graduates are excellent.
What is your current job?
I am geophysicist in a reservoir imaging team.
What does a typical day look like?
Mornings often start with a meeting with the team then my line manager shares with me the issues of the day. I'm learning on-the-job where half my time is spent learning and the other half executing.
What are the interesting aspects of your job?
I currently have my own project, with proper responsibilities. I really feel in charge of it.
My project deals with delivery of all data relating to all well data and overburden faults. This technical work will contribute to the choice of new wells to drill in unexplored areas. I also have the opportunity to develop my project management skills.
Does your job match what you had in mind? Better, different? Please, describe.
It matches perfectly.
How do see your next role and future career opportunities at Shell?
In the future, I see myself in an asset team role, with a more operational element, such as seismic interpretation.
What are your reasons for staying with Shell?
I have received excellent training, and I am enjoying the responsibility of running my own project.
