Petrophysics

As soon as I joined Shell, I received the necessary training that new hires require to go offshore. Then a week after I joined, I travelled for the first time to an offshore platform where I was helping Engineers on logging jobs.

Rafael Centeno, Petrophysicist

We play a vital role in the search for and recovery of new reserves, acquiring and evaluating the primary well data that helps us construct 3D models of the target reservoirs and the hydrocarbon flow potential of the rocks.

You’ll be at the heart of every stage of the life-cycle, from exploration through appraisal and development to production management.

More specifically you will:

  • Design the data acquisition programmes for all wells drilled
  • Assess the volumes of hydrocarbons in the reservoirs, differentiating between oil, water and gas
  • Analyse the rock’s potential to produce oil and gas using all available data
  • Liaise with Geologists and Reservoir Engineers to optimise the development of oil and gas fields.
