Manage Resources and Key Environmental Issues

The natural environment supports all human activity. At Shell, we continually look for ways to reduce the environmental impact of our operations, products and services throughout their life cycle. We also work to respond to the issues facing us, and our stakeholders. Find our more about our position and progress on dealing with issues like climate change, biodiversity and sustainable mobility.

Biodiversity

Biodiversity

Royal Dutch Shell was the first oil and gas company in the world to adopt a biodiversity standard. We apply this standard in Canada as dictated by the needs of our environment and by our operations here.

Climate Change

Climate Change

Shell Canada shares the global concern about climate change. While it is a long-term issue requiring long-term solutions, we are taking action now to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Shell Canada is committed to voluntary reporting our progress to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and we continue to set and meet voluntary GHG emissions reduction targets.

Land Use

Land Use

Efficient use of land reduces our costs and respects the needs of other land users as well as the interests of future generations. We take steps to reduce our environmental footprint and to help protect wildlife, water and soil.

Sustainable Mobility

Sustainable Mobility

Sustainable mobility is an emerging issue focused on the need for society to have continual, reliable access to mobility without compromising the needs of future generations.

Water Use

Water Use

Water quality and responsible use of water are top priorities for all Shell facilities. Many of the improvements designed to protect and conserve water also make good business sense.
