Shell Canada and Climate Change

Climate Change

We share the global concern about climate change and the need to take action on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We continue to research and implement new processes and technology to reduce GHG emissions from our facilities.

We are committed to voluntarily reporting our progress to reduce GHG emissions and we continue to set and meet these voluntary reduction targets.

According to the most recent reports, Canadians currently contribute about 758 million tonnes of GHGs to the atmosphere yearly - an increase of about 27 per cent since 1990. This increase is due to population growth, economic activity and energy production and use.
