Species List Include a species list for all plants to be used in the project, and validation that these species are indigenous to your area. Usually a local naturalist organization can provide advice on indigenous species. The SEF panels expect that most plants used for a naturalization project will be native/indigenous and may decline to fund non-native species. We recommend you contact the Tree Canada Foundation for advice in selecting native trees and shrubs. Visit their website at www.treecanada.ca (opens in a new window). For information on species selection for Ontario naturalization projects, the Ontario SEF panel recommends: - "Naturalization: The Carolinian Life Zone."University of Guelph, 1994
- The "Natural Invaders" brochure, available on the
Ontario Nature website (opens in a new window).
Map A map showing the layout and plan. Maintenance Plan A maintenance plan for the area, once the planting has been completed. This plan can be attached or detailed in the online application form. Questions? Contact us with any questions about the Shell Environmental Fund.
