Shell is embarking on a series of 20 campus recruiting sessions and career fairs nation-wide this month as part of the annual attraction and recruitment campaign. The campaign consists of Shell’s Campus Ambassador Program team activities, technical recruiter visits to post-secondary institutions and multidisciplinary campus career fairs. Kim Brassard, Manager of Attraction and Recruitment for Shell is heading up the campaign.
“The career fairs bring teams of Shell employees to meet with students to give them an idea of what their potential career path could look like at Shell,” Brassard says.
“We’ve also taken a new approach to recruitment sessions on campus, combining discipline-specific events into larger, multidisciplinary events. The response has been excellent – attendance has tripled and we’re getting 150 per cent more applications than we did with traditional career fairs.”
Brassard sites the relationship-building power of the Campus Ambassador program as the main factor in easing attraction and recruitment pressures for Shell.
Shell’s Campus Ambassador Program (CAP) was launched one year ago as a recruitment initiative to attract Canada’s best and brightest students by going beyond scholarships to support field schools, lecture series, case competitions and internships. Shell has 16 CAP schools across Canada, each with a designated Campus Ambassador who is a member of Shell’s senior management team.
“Shell is very pleased with the results of the Campus Ambassador Program to date,” said Brian Straub, Senior Vice President of Oil Sands and Campus Ambassador for the University of Alberta, where he recently addressed 375 students at a University of Alberta recruitment session.
“The interaction through lectures and field trips helps us connect with future leaders of our company and industry. We’re already starting to see the benefits of these relationships.” If you or someone you know is interested to learn more about Shell, you’re encouraged to visit a Shell campus recruitment session or to attend a career fair near you.
