When Shell Canada established the Shell Environmental Fund (SEF) in 1990, a environmentalist named Henri Jacob eagerly joined the Fund as a panelist for the Quebec region. Henri joined the SEF because he felt it was a good way for smaller, not well-recognized organizations to receive funding for worthwhile environmental projects. To ensure approved projects provided a long-term benefit to the environment was always a key factor for Henri's decisions. Over the years, Henri has been personally interested or involved in a range of environmental projects such as consulting on trail preparations for recreational activities to ensure minimal environmental disturbances occur, working with both the forestry and hydro industries as an environmental consultant, and conducting waterfowl inventories for declining duck breeds. Now 14 years later, Henri is still fired by a passion for protecting and enhancing the environment. The founding president of Regroupement d'écologistes de Val d'Or et environs (environmental network), Henri is still an active member of the organization.
