Shell Mexphalte C

Henry Ford used to say to people wanting to buy a red Model-T: "you can have any colour you like, as long as it's black." Until recently, bitumen manufacturers had to say the same thing. Shell have developed Shell Mexphalte C a pigmentable binder that does for bitumen what Technicolour did for films.

Mexphalte C has a long and successful history, especially in the Netherlands and France where it is widely used for bicycle lanes and to blend new asphalt surfaces in with historical surroundings in village squares.

Mexphalte-C Pack System

The Mexphalte-C Pack System opens up many possibilities for sales where:

  • Small volumes of coloured asphalt are required e.g. repair jobs, driveways, parking areas
  • It is economically prohibitive to transport bulk or drummed products over long distances
  • Storage and heating costs (especially hot bulk) are a concern

The pack system brings coloured or natural surfacing to smaller projects.

Mexphalte-C has been used to produce white surfaces that enhance visibility and safety in tunnels. It has also been used in Australia for bus lane delineation improving both safety and traffic flow.
