 The execution of this project is a real success story – taking just nine months from the first draft of the plans in September 2007 to the start up of the plant in May 08, the project was completed on schedule, on budget and without a single HSSE incident. This was achieved through very tight coordination and commitment from the LA Operations team, The Global Operational Excellence Team, Contracting & Procurement, Engineering and the HSSE advisor. The plant start-up went smoothly and the first batch of PMB was produced in June. On July 11th, the new plant was officially opened to an audience consisting of customers, stakeholders and the media – receiving extensive TV and press coverage. This was a very successful event with attendance from key customers and consultants. Government representatives from all four countries in Central  America were present, including one Minister from Honduras, one from El Salvador and several Directors of MOP and Maintenance Departments in CA. The launching of the plant included a visit to the plant, lunch, press conference and a Technical Workshop for the more technical part of the audience.
In late July, the first road trial, under the watchful eye of the local Shell Bitumen technical team, was undertaken - to great success. We are very hopeful that all the effort displayed in the last months will result in sales orders. |
