Case Study: The fuel of the future?
Shell is deeply committed to developing new energy sources. Shell is a world leader in the supply of biofuels and is constructing a large new plant in Qatar, which will produce 140,000bbl/day. At the world’s largest gas to liquids plant in Bintulu, Malaysia, we have the potential to produce aviation kerosene that is completely free of sulphur and aromatics. Shell is also involved in building the world’s first BTL (Biomass to liquids) plant in Germany.
Shell Group research is focused on finding sustainable routes for producing hydrocarbons from diverse sources. Shell Aviation’s strategy is to use our expertise in this area to help our customers and the aviation industry find alternative fuels that will facilitate sustainable growth in the future.
