Shell Aviation and the wider Shell group of companies continues to invest heavily in the future.

Whether it is refinement of fuels specifications, development of new fuel creation processes, such as synthesis of middle distillate fuels from gas, or blue sky thinking with development and testing of additive solutions, Shell Aviation is one of the few companies to invest so heavily in the future of aviation fuels.

This is one of the many reasons we are applauded by airlines as the No.1 for Technical Expertise in aviation fuel systems.

Case Study: The fuel of the future?

Shell is deeply committed to developing new energy sources. Shell is a world leader in the supply of biofuels and is constructing a large new plant in Qatar, which will produce 140,000bbl/day. At the world’s largest gas to liquids plant in Bintulu, Malaysia, we have the potential to produce aviation kerosene that is completely free of sulphur and aromatics. Shell is also involved in building the world’s first BTL (Biomass to liquids) plant in Germany.

Shell Group research is focused on finding sustainable routes for producing hydrocarbons from diverse sources. Shell Aviation’s strategy is to use our expertise in this area to help our customers and the aviation industry find alternative fuels that will facilitate sustainable growth in the future.
