About Social Investment

printable version

Through Shell's operations around the world, we undertake a wide range of social investment activities.  These activities are driven by a commitment to sustainable development and a belief that our long-term success depends on being able to strike the right balance between economic growth, care for the environment and equitable social development.

What is Social Investment?

Social Investment (SI) can mean different things to different people. For Shell, SI is a targeted investment made by a business that assists community organisations to achieve their goals.

This investment can either be financial or come in some other form such as the time and skills of employees. Its aim is to help build stronger communities while also returning benefits in a variety of ways to the business.
