As part of our commitment to sustainable development, Shell is working to ensure the use of biomass for energy yields a positive contribution to the environment and society. For more information on the steps Shell is taking to meet this objective see www.shell.com/biofuels. Shell in Australia believes biofuels have a role to play in the Australian fuel mix. Shell is investing over four million dollars on infrastructure at our major terminals in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne and has been working closely with Coles Express and Shell branded service station operators to bring ethanol blended fuels to market. In late 2006, Shell began supplying Shell Unleaded E10, formulated with 10% ethanol. We are continuing to expand the availability of Shell Unleaded E10 at Coles Express and Shell branded service stations and plan to provide the largest network of ethanol fuel sites available to the Australian motoring public. For more information on Shell Unleaded E10 see www.shell.com.au/e10. Shell also uses ethanol in Shell V-Power Racing, a "super-premium" 100 Octane fuel, formulated with 5% ethanol. For more information on Shell V-Power Racing see www.shell.com.au/vpower-racing. For biofuels to become a sustainable and significant part of the Australian fuel mix, Shell believes there must continue to be a restoration of consumer confidence in biofuels and for there to be a reliable supply of the biofuel components at competitive prices. Shell supports the Federal Governments target for the use of 350 megalitres of biofuels a year by 2010. Shell is committed to working with Governments and the fuel industry towards marketing to and educating consumers on the use of ethanol fuels thereby restoring their confidence in them. Key to this is educating motorists about their vehicles' compatability with ethanol blended fuels. The Federal Chamber of Automobile Industries website www.fcai.com.au contains a comprehensive list of the different makes and models of cars that can use ethanol blended fuels. We are committed to delivering quality fuels in Australia and believe ethanol will play an increasingly important role in the Australian market.
