Sealing

printable version

The most common seal consists of a single application of AMC5H, AMC6H or AMC7H, which is sprayed onto a primed pavement followed by an application of aggregate which is rolled with rubber tyred rollers to embed the stone into the bitumen.

This treatment is also used for resurfacing existing bitumen surfaced roads.

AMC5H / AMC5

Bitumen Tip Truck

AMC5H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. As a primerseal AMC5H allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC5H can also be used as a conventional seal. AMC5H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC5 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. As a primerseal AMC5 allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC5 can also be used as a conventional seal. AMC5 is formulated utilising Mexcut L as cutter.

AMC5H and AMC5 are designed as heavier cutback bitumens to be used as a primerseal capable of being fluid enough to penetrate and adhere to the pavement surface as well as holding some cover aggregate. Application rates depend upon the class of road and the anticipated daily traffic, but will typically vary between 1.1 and 1.7 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 120 to 150 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 155 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: 100 degrees C
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 155 degrees C

AMC6H / AMC6

New Road

AMC6H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen seal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC6H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC6 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen seal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC6 is formulated utilising Mexcut L as cutter.

AMC6H and AMC6 are designed as cutback bitumens to be used as a seal to waterproof and hold cover aggregate on prepared bases and existing roads. Application rates depend upon the class of road and the anticipated daily traffic, but will typically vary between 1.1 and 1.7 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 145 to 170 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 165 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: 125 degrees C
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 175 degrees C

AMC7H / AMC7

Shell Road Train

AMC7H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen seal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC7H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC7 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen seal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC7 is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut L as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC7H and AMC7 are designed as cutback bitumens to be used as a seal to waterproof and hold cover aggregate on prepared bases and existing roads. Application rates depend upon the class of road and the anticipated daily traffic, but will typically vary between 1.1 and 1.7 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 150 to 185 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 180 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: 140 degrees C
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 190 degrees C
