Primersealing

printable version

A primerseal consists of the application of a heavier grade of cutback bitumen which is covered with sand or fine aggregate (usually up to 10mm maximum size). The sand provides a wearing surface which can carry traffic for a limited period of time - up to 12 months.

AMC2H / AMC2

Large Bitumen Roller

AMC2H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primer designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC2H allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC2H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC2 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primer designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC2 is formulated utilising Mexcut L as cutter.

AMC2H and AMC2 are designed for application on highly porous surfaces to improve the integrity of a loosely bonded substrate surface. The increased viscosity of AMC2H and AMC2 resists total penetration into the road and helps bond loose material hence strengthening the surface. Suitable application rates range from 0.7 to 1.2 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 60 to 80 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 60 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: Ambient
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 80 degrees C

AMC3H / AMC3

Sunlit Road

AMC3H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC3H allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC3H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC3 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC3 allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC3 is formulated utilising Mexcut L as cutter.

AMC3H and AMC3 are designed as heavier cutback bitumens to be used as a primerseal capable of being fluid enough to penetrate and adhere to the pavement surface as well as holding some cover aggregate. Application rates depend upon the class of road and the anticipated daily traffic, but will typically vary between 0.9 and 1.7 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 95 to 115 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 125 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: 75 degrees C
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 130 degrees C

AMC4H / AMC4

Bitumen Spray Truck

AMC4H is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC4H allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC4H is formulated to be non-hazardous, utilising Mexcut H as cutter and is not classified as dangerous good.

AMC4 is a specially formulated cutback bitumen primerseal designed for efficient spraying and good adhesion to prepared bases and stone. AMC4 allows the seal coat to be applied later in the season and allows the road to be trafficked prior to the application of a conventional seal. AMC4 is formulated utilising Mexcut L as cutter.

AMC4H and AMC4 are designed as heavier cutback bitumens to be used as a primerseal capable of being fluid enough to penetrate and adhere to the pavement surface as well as holding some cover aggregate. Application rates depend upon the class of road and the anticipated daily traffic, but will typically vary between 0.9 and 1.7 L/m2.

  • Application Temperature: 110 to 135 degrees C
  • Short Term Maximum Temperature: 140 degrees C
  • Long Term Storage Temperature: 85 degrees C
  • Maximum Safe Temperature: 140 degrees C
