Shell Mexphalte Fuelsafe is the new high performance cost-effective bitumen that delivers at least three times more resistance to the costly effects of fuel leakage than conventional grades. Mexphalte Fuelsafe has been specially designed to make asphalt surfaces last longer when exposed to the potential damage caused by spilt and leaking fuel. Ideal for airports, bus depots, ports, docks car parks and warehouses.

Whenever and wherever aircraft, cars, trucks and buses could spill their diesel or kerosene fuel, Shell Mexphalte Fuelsafe can lessen the impact. It can also reduce resurfacing and repair work to damaged sites and has proven fuel resistance performance. Shell Mexphalte Fuelsafe has been proven to perform better in fuel resistance, permanent deformation and fatigue performance tests. Like all Shell binders, Mexphalte Fuelsafe is 100% recyclable. Mexphalte Fuelsafe does not have special handling requirements and can be treated as per conventional bitumen.

Mexphalte C (Synthetic Pigmentable Bitumen) |
 |
Shell Bitumen has long been at the forefront in the development of innovative products for pavements and road surfacing. Shell Mexphalte C is no exception! This product was developed in the mid 1980's at Shell European laboratories and was designed to overcome a natural charateristic of bitumen that is sometimes a limitation - its blackness. Mexphalte C is a clear synthetic bitumen which readily accepts colour through the addition of pigments. Mexphalte C can therefore be used to produce different coloured asphalts and spray seals. The synthetic binder is available in two grades, Mexphalte C for spray seal applications and lightly trafficked asphalts, and Mexphalte C P1, a polymer modified grade for heavily trafficked asphalt. Coloured pavements can fulfil several functions:
|
|
- Alert traffic to special situations: crossings, cycle paths, bus stops, one way traffic entrance, dangerous factory exits
- Indicate differences in pavement functions e.g. parking areas, service roads, cycle paths, bus lanes etc
- Improve the effect of illumination by the use of light coloured surfaces: tunnels, flyovers etc
- Increase attractiveness and status of recreational pavements: tennis courts, playgrounds, park lanes, drives, sports fields both indoors and outdoors
- Diminish the contrast of asphalt with the surrounding soil or vegetation by blending it into the landscape
